1st Halloween

Dillon in his pumpkin onsie! He wore this almost all day today and rather enjoyed being a pumpkin!
Here's Dillon in his "I love my Mummy" t-shirt and gray pants! He was rocking the gray pants! Looks like a little boy in the 2 piece outfit!
Dillon and Daddy sporting the striped "It's My First Halloween, Don't Scare Me" get up!
Same outfit with Mom with the added pumpkin hat ... Patrick, that's for you. What cool hat did you sport today??
And this is Dillon totally pooped out in the swing! When the neighbors come by to check him out, this is what they see! He's living it up tonight!!

Couple of Pics

Here are some pictures from the past week ...
This picture is not an action shot! Dillon was sleeping in the swing with his hands and arms up like that! Too cute! I wonder what he was dreaming about??
Cooking with Mommy! This is when we were making supper for Laurie and her crew ... yep, L, Dillon helped make that meal! Guess I should have warned you earlier! :o)
Notice the measuring spoons in his hand! He was a big helper ...
... while he was awake! He pooped out as we were making the pumpkin muffins! Oh well - it was fun while it lasted!!
And finally here's a picture of Dillon with his lovey! We need a name for Mr Frog ... that's the best I have come up with so far, and I am not real pleased with it. Any ideas???

Happy Halloween

Here is our cute pumpkin! And his bear dressed up like a bunny! (Cute, huh? Thanks Sara!)

We are excited about handing out candy tonight! Happy Halloween to all! Check back later for some more costume changes ... we have several ... not as many as Regis and Kelly this morning, but a few!!

Saturday's Visit

Yesterday Dillon and I took another road trip to Winston. Papaw John was at my parent's and he had not yet met the little man. Here are some pictures from the visit ... and no, he wasn't held the whole time ... he was laid down to be changed a couple times!! :o)

Papaw John feeding Dillon! Too cute! He could not get enough of holding Dillon! Kept asking "want me to take him now?"
Papaw holding Dillon. Papaw was a little hesitant because it had been a long time since he held a baby, but you can see he looked like a pro! Dillon looks pretty happy!!
Memaw in the floor with Dillon! She has come over twice each time I have visited ... she can't get enough! Too sweet!
Dad and Dillon chillin'. Dad held me this way (there are many pictures to prove it ...) Now he is starting again with Dillon. You can see they both love it!
Mom and Dillon - finally! After a long day of sharing, Mom finally got to hold her little one! She sure didn't want to give him up when I had to head back home!

And yes, your eyes do not deceive you ... he is in the same outfit in all the pictures except the last one (his pj's). He didn't have any "accidents" yesterday that required an outfit change!

YouTube ... It's Got Everything!

Ashley found that sond on YouTube ... I should have checked there. This summer, we learned from the kids that everything is on YouTube ... you can find anything you want there. I suppose I am now a believer! If anyone is interested in hearing the song, Ashley posted it on her blog. Click here and enjoy! THANKS ASH!

Lydia oh Lydia, I wish I didn't get riddi-ya ...

Lydia I miss your rose tattoo!

Ash - Do you remember yet? This is the song I am referring to the in blog below. The name is "Move It Like This" by K7. Here are a few more lyrics ...

In some secluded rendezvous
That overlooks the avenue
He stepped into the streets and walked up to this girl
He had a cap tooth made of gold
He had an earing in his nose
And her looks, that a night he liked to twirl*
*I always thought this line was something about a dredlock he liked to twirl ... ?

Does anybody know what I am talking about?! You can't buy this song on iTunes, but I really want it on my iPod!! LOL

One Month Update

We just got back from Dillon's one month check-up. He's doing great! He now weighs 8lbs 14oz (50th percentile) and is 22 inches long (he was 20 inches long at birth - this is the 75th percentile). He did have to get a shot today. He did well, but now we are worried his leg will be sore for a couple days. Right now he is sleeping. Hopefully he will just sleep and eat it off! His next Dr visit is in a month ... that day he will get 2 shots ... and Sara and Patrick - it's the first day of your visit, so he might not be too happy of a camper at first! Sorry!!

Yesterday we headed North to meet Julie and Alex. This was Dillon and Alex's first meeting! (As you can see, they were thrilled!) Alex is 6 1/2 weeks older than Dillon. I can't believe Dillon is going to be that big before Christmas!
We had a great visit, and a great dinner at Chili's. It's fun to think about 12 years ago when Julie and I met to now ... so much has happened! 11 years ago is when we met you, Ashley! Life sure happens fast, huh? Speaking of you Ashley - I would love you to put that song "Move It Like That" on your blog. Not the normal "Move It Like That", but the one about the girl with the rose tatoo ... you know the one. I can't find that song anywhere on the net. Do you still have the CD? Me, you and Julie used to sit in White Hall and jam out to that one ... okay, maybe not, but I am sure we listened to it a time or two in the dorm!

Dillon's First Trip

Yesterday we headed to Winston-Salem to see some family and friends! Dillon had a great time! He was a perfect angel in the car and was a real trooper being passed around to all the people who couldn't wait to get their hands on him! Here are a few pictures from the trip ...

Dillon and his proud Granddad!
Memaw and Papaw getting their first look at the little guy!

Survivor Night!

It's not the same without Christi and Greg here in Charlotte, but ... we will manage to enjoy Survivor tonight. I have already eaten (usually we like to eat during Survivor, while the survivors are starving because they are running out of rice!), and I started Weight Watchers Tuesday again, so probably I will not have dessert ... we'll see! Dion got some pumpkin cheesecake from Brixx the other day, and I have been making my way through it. A bite or two can't hurt, right??

Today Dillon and I had another good day! He actually spit up in his bassinet around 7am this morning, and instead of going to his room to get another sheet, I just placed him on my chest and back to sleep we went. When I woke back up (around 10am, thank you!), he was sucking his thumb! How precious! I really hope he's a thumbsucker, at least for a little while! This afternoon we visited Dion at work. He was showed off a bit, then he zonked out! Pretty much he has been eating or asleep since we got back. He should be good and ready for Survivor to come on in less than an hour!

Tomorrow we may venture out to Trader Joe's. I haven't been since it came to Charlotte. I think Dillon will be up for it! I'll let you know!

Dillon's Entertainment

Dillon has found entertainment ... in looking at himself! Yesterday we put him in this play mat thing and set the mirror up to the side so he could see himself and he has been totally content looking at himself ever since! (No, we did not leave him in there since yesterday, but we have put him in there a couple times since! And we take him out before he fusses ... he maybe would stay in there all night!)

Other updates - things are going great! Dillon is right on with days and nights. He is so smart for such a little guy! Right now it's 10:30am and he's been awake since about 9:30. He has been staying awake from his "breakfast" (between 8am & 10am) until afternoon, and then staying awake again from the time Dion gets home until about 8pm or 10pm. And at night, for the past week or so I'd say, he has been falling right back to sleep after we feed him. Things are going much better than week 2!! Everyone who said things would get better - they have. Thanks for the encouragement.

The Bank

With the economy constantly in the news lately, and the fact that I work for Wachovia, you are probably wondering why I haven't mentioned this topic sooner. Here's the reason ... it's not a fun topic! But the bank in my backyard is becoming a positive topic! Check out the GREAT PROGRESS Dion and Mom have made lately! Bad to best ...

Missin' Boone

This weather really makes me crave Appalachian, Boone Bagelery, walking the loop (okay, in theory), Los Arcoslkasjdf, Ghost Train, shopping in Blowing Rock and sitting outside at Klondike! I LOVE this weather! It's perfect! Too bad I am stuck inside most days lately. Dillon and I did venture out a little this morning. Mom is digging weeds on our bank and Dion is cutting the grass ... I have been inside paying bills. Not sure who has the worst job right now! The best is probably mowing because Dion is jamming to his iPod.

ANYWAY - Just wanted to post about good ole Boone. We haven't made it to a football game in years ... actually since the weekend before Dion and I got engaged. Julie - do you remember that? We stayed at Geno's! Aahhh, good times. We didn't even make it to Boone this summer with the kids. It's been over a year! I need a Boone fix ... any takers for a day trip? I think I can do it in a couple weeks!

PS - Ash - how are we doing "bringing [sexy] blogging back?" ... Since your post "challenge", I think Julie and I have been pretty on it!

Daddy and Dillon

Here are the boys watching the race ... good times!

Dillon had another great day at Meg-Art! Mom and I painted for a few hours and he slept, ate, pooped and then looked around for a while! Wonder if he'll always be this easy ...

Day 17 - A Great Day So Far!

Today we had our follow up Dr appt and our first outing other than running into Target for one thing. Dillon did great at both! We have the sweetest baby!

First, the appt update - our little boy now weighs 6lbs 14oz!! He surpassed his birth weight! Yeah! And, for those doing the math, yes, gained almost 10oz since Monday! We are finally on thw right track and feel very good about it! Go Dillon!

For the outing, we ventured out to Meg-Art to get some prints done. They turned out precious! Christmas presents in the making! We had a lot of fun! The next thing I need to do though is scrub that little thing clean! Who knows what all germs are present there! (Do I sound like one of those Moms now??)

Good times! I think I am actually getting the hang of this!

OK - now we are all scrubbed up and taking a little nap! How precious is our little "super baby"! He sure loves to sprawl out! He is actually fine now sleeping not being swaddled ... it was fun while it lasted! ha ha

And here's THE PROGRESS! These are all the handprints and footprints we did today! We did a lot, huh? It really was a lot of fun ... I have a feeling we'll be back for more before you know it! Now I just need to clean these up and then finish painting them ... should be done before I go back to work ... HA!

One LONG Week

Hi! Sorry I have not posted in a week ... it's been a LONG one! Let me start with last Thursday ... we took Dillon to the Dr to make sure he had stopped losing weight the day after we came home from the hospital. All was well - he weighed 6lbs even Friday (weighed 5lbs 15oz Wednesday when we left the hospital). Then we had another appointment Tuesday just to make sure all was still well and he was gaining ... he weighed 5lbs, 15oz again. YUCK! So that same day we met with a Dr who is also a lactation consultant. She put us on a strict "nurse every 2 hours" schedule and wanted us to come back Thursday. That was rough to say the least ... feeding every 2 hours start to start was more than I bargained for! BUT - it was only until Thursday, so we could do it! Went back Thursday ... he weighed 5lbs, 15oz ... DANG! NOT GOOD! What in the world? SO now ... she put us on a strict "nurse every 2 hours, then pump, then feed him the expressed milk" (through a syringe, no doubt - have you ever tried that?) schedule and wanted us to come back Saturday. That was super rough ... and super stressful! Went back Saturday ... he weighed 5 lbs, 14 and 3/4oz ... OMG! HOW CAN THIS BE?? So then Dion and I were going into super stressed mode. What in the world were we doing wrong, and why was our baby boy not gaining weight? We couldn't possibly do anymore than we were already doing. It felt like he was eating around the clock as it was! So ... what did she say? Well, she prescribed 2 pills for me (of which, one of them has a side effect to make you tired ... nice), and put us on a strict "nurse every 2 hours, then pump, feed him the expressed milk, and supplement with formula ... 2 ounces of supplement for every 2 hours" schedule. When I went in Mom's room at 5:30am this morning to get Dillon (yes, that's where he has been sleeping in the bassinet!), my poor Mother just sighed and said this was hard! Poor thing! She has been doing most of the feedings that don't require me. BUT - this time, GOOD NEWS! Little Dillon weighed in at 6lbs, 4 and 3/4oz this morning! He gained a whopping 5oz over the past 2 days! WHOO-HOO! We are not on the home stretch yet; his birth weight was 6lbs, 10oz, BUT we are definitely not as stressed as we have been.

I will take this time to apologize to all our friends who have called over the past week and we have not returned your calls. This is why. When we are not in the middle of a feeding session, we are trying to catch a nap, or just plain going crazy! We have to keep on this schedule for the next couple of days, but the Dr did say we could go 3 hours if needed ... sweet! We go back to the Dr Thursday. I will surely post an update at that time.

Thank you to everyone who has been checking in on us, and sorry again for not updating everyone sooner. It was a little too stressful around here to talk and post! We were worried about our little one - and not doing too good ourselves sleep-wise in the meantime!

Love you all! Hopefully we'll be back in the "real" world soon!
