Stephanie Unplugged

How spoiled are we now in the age of technology? Sunday the wireless part of our laptop stopped working, hence all the posts getting published tonight! I can't imagine having to "plug in" every time I want to get on the Internet now! But now, we're cooking with gas ... Dion got an external wireless card, so game back on!

Update on my "Super Month" ... turns out it's just an ordinary month. Maybe worse than ordinary! LOL Well, at least I set the expectations good and high. OK - I have totally been off Weight Watchers. Today I did pretty good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were great. I had a snack when I got home and a snack just now ... those were probably not so great, but it's okay! I have been going to the gym pretty good - 4 days a week. But - that is a better balance for me. Afterall, I do need a little sleep, and I do enjoy some time with my baby. I'll figure it all out ... not worried. The other stuff is going well. My ultimate goal - lose 10 lbs this month - not gonna happen! I'll be lucky if I lose 5! Again - I'll get there. I just felt the need to give an update since I publicly published my goals ... (lesson learned! ha ha - just kidding!)

Watch Out Denise Richards

OK – last night I participated in my third ZUMBA class. I am rather enjoying myself going. Tonight we had a substitute teacher. She was really carefree, lots of free-style, do what you want kind of moves. I was actually much better at following her because she did not have a set routine … here are my comments:
- felt like I was back in high school Spanish class when she would randomly start telling us what to do in Spanish … just like in class, I pretended to know what was going on.
- there was one move where you bend over and shake your rear in the air – to quote the teach, “this one comes on fast girls, you have to be ready for it”
- learned “salsa” means “mix”, so when she said do the salsa, it could really be a mix of anything you felt … (aka now freestyle to me!)
- danced like I was on vacation in Mexico! the class was really full and it really felt like a poolside activity at the Sandals (except we were in a classroom and it was cold and rainy outside, and everyone was pasty pasty white and there were no drinks with umbrellas being served … other than that, just like being on vacation!)
- speaking of salsa – Harris Teeter has their HT Traders salsa for ½ price.
- single, single, double is still my favorite move!
Anyone in the Huntersville area who wants to try this out with me, let me know! I will work on getting you a pass! It's definitely a good time!!

Dillon - 6 Months Old

Dillon celebrated his 1/2 birthday this weekend! He is 6 months old! Honestly, these 6 months have flown by! It's hard to believe he was just a starting to be talked about a year ago! He had his 6 month check-up Monday and all is well! Here are his stats:
Height = 28 inches (95th percentile)
Weight = 17 lbs and 4 oz (40th percentile)
Head = 44 cm (50th percentile)

Everything is going very well! Dillon is starting to get one front bottom tooth! His first! Bring on the drool! He is also still sleeping on average 12 hours a night! Oh yes, I am very jealous! I could so go for 12 hours a night! Dillon is starting to "talk" a lot ... and growl! So funny and so cute! He also loves loves loves his jumpy seat! His new thing is bouncing off the door frame ... bumper chairs! He can also sit up by himself for quite a long while now - several minutes! Check out pictures of Dillon at 6 months! He is a cutie cutie!

Popcorn Party

Addison came to stay with us last weekend (well, Addison, Julie and Alex!) And she and Dion made us some delicious popcorn! We had a lot of fun! Saturday Julie and I took the kids to MegArt ... this is the only picture we got of the boys together. We have got to get better at that!!

Fondue Fun!

Last night we tested out our new Crate & Barrel fondue set. It's very nice if you were wondering. I had a bad experience with fondue when I lived in my apartment. It wasn't all that bad, but when I filled the "thing" with the burning oil (I have no idea what that is called), I left a little trail and when I lit it on fire, you know, the counter caught on fire. Not too big of a deal, but not something I want to repeat! This one is electric! I think it's suites us perfectly!

Dion made the cheese fondue. It was quite good - just like the Melting Pot. In fact, it was the Melting Pot's recipe! He had all the fixes too ... carrot sticks, brocoli, cauliflower, apples, chips, sour dough and pumperknickle ... in the words of Rachael Ray ... YUMMMM-o!

Dillon's First Boat Ride!

Tonight we went to the Rusty Rudder via the boat. As you can clearly see, Dillon had a blast! HeeHee! Actually, he did have fun. He stayed awake more than 5 straight hours! That's probably a record for him! He didn't want to miss a thing! We didn't spend too much time on the water, but it was a great first boat ride for the boy!

First Beautiful Day

First, let me say, I can take it as well as I can dish it, so I don't really feel bad about what I am about to write! :o)

Today was the first beautiful day in Charlotte - it is absolutely gorgeous outside! Dion and I traveled to South Park, shopped at Crate & Barrel, eat at The Cheesecake Factory, played in the Apple store, then dropped both of our wedding rings off to be polished and mine resized. (Yep, hopefully after today I will no longer be wearing my wedding ring on my middle finger!) So what in the world could I possibly want to rant about? Glad you asked ...

Here are bad things you always notice on the first nice day -
1) Gross Feet - I mean, if you are going to bust out the sandals, at least take the time to scrape some of the dead winter skin off your tootsies! And would a little polish kill ya?
2) Pale Legs - I wore jeans today even though I was hot. Why? Because I know my legs are as winter white as they can be and I didn't feel the need to expose them to everyone today. The sun is bright enough; I don't need to be blinded by the white!
3) Too Tight Capri Pants - Here's the thing ladies ... don't be caught off guard by the warm weather and be forced to wear last year's summer pants that are way too snug right now! No one needs to know that at some point you were able to wear those but since you have packed on the lbs. If that's the case, it's fine. Just keep it to yourself.

Wow - I feel so much better now that I have gotten that off my chest. Now, dear friends, please tell me if I fall into one of those 3 categories!!

Flying with Dion

The Thursday before last I went flying with Dion. He is so close to getting his private pilot's license! We flew over the house a couple of times, and then Dion put on the foggles and did some maneuvers over Statesville and Hickory. Here's the best pictures I could get of the house from the air. I think I was leaning on the vibrating glass ... maybe I should sit straight up next time!

Week 1 Status

Doing pretty good ... not perfect, but that's okay. I also need to learn not to give up completely if I slip up a little. Here goes:

1) Drink only one caffeinated drink per day - check! I think I will keep this up until I lose all the weight I need to ... it's not too bad and really makes me drink the H2O!
2) Only buy my lunch 4 times total for the month - check! I bought my lunch once this week, unexpectedly. I packed my lunch every day, which was big! The day I bought is because my old boss asked me to go to lunch, and since I'm meeting 1/1 with my new boss this coming week, I was not about to pass that opportunity up! One sandwich in the trash, but hopefully the result will be lots of more paychecks from Wells Fargo ... lol!
3) Go to the gym 6 out of 7 days per week - OK, no check ... technically I could still fix that RIGHT NOW! But I am going to say I missed it and be okay with it. I did however go to the gym 5 days! Monday - Friday, every day! It was a lot of fun and I could not have done it without Mom! She also went 5 days this week with me. We had a lot of fun, tried out a new class (see "Zumba") and trekked several miles on the treadmills. Good times!
4) Wash my face every night before going to bed - all but last night (you will see this is a trend!) 6 out of 7 ain't bad though!
5) No dirty dishes in the sink when I go to bed - OK, technically CHECK! Because the dirty dishes were on the counter, not the sink! LOL ... but seriously, there were dirty dishes because the dish washer needed to be emptied, and I was sooo tired, so I consciencely decided to miss this one last night as well. But I did this successfully 6 out of 7 days this week!
6) Do not cheat on Weight Watchers - I have been tracking every bite! Yes Mom, even those peanuts I have been eating when I get home from work! It's not bad ... let's go! However - last night Dion and I went out for Mexican (again, see "Zumba"!) and I did overeat. I have to say, I felt miserable last night after eating so much. Hopefully I can just think back on that the rest of the month when I am tempted to over indulge. Today Dion and I are going to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. I am so excited! But determined not to overdo it ... just do it enough!
7) Ultimate Goal - lose 10 lbs in March - As of this morning, I have lost 2.8lbs, well on my way! I am really excited. I have been at a complete standstill since November. This is really encouraging to me.

Let's do it all again this week!

Zumba ...

So many comments ... where to start??

1) I took this class because Dawn and Julie both mentioned how fun it was on facebook
2) The whole time, all I wanted was a taco
3) I thought I could dance - I was wrong
4) The class would be a lot of fun with friends (that also can't dance)
5) Am I the only one would wanted a taco & margarita???
6) Why is there not a free-style portion of the class?
7) I no longer think I could be on Dancing with the Stars

If you don't know what Zumba is, it's a Latin inspired cardio dance class. There was belly dancing, hip hop (to Mexican music), samba, salsa, mambo, tango and something that start with a c ... we'll just call it the choo-choo. I was thrustin', spinnin', "playing the drums" ... everything but the shopping cart. Aah, the shopping cart ... now that's a good dance move. "Kick the kid" ... LOL Maybe we can incorporate that next week!
